I’ve always been a big believer that a new year starts every fall, at the beginning of each new “school year”.
Many of you reading this post, much like myself, probably aren’t in school anymore. However, for some reason, fall tends to spark a much-needed reflection within myself about goals and desires, about new activities, and both new and old relationships.
My all my avid-readers (who I adore, BTW) have noticed that the South of Vanilla blog has gone to the wayside the past 6-months. I used to avidly post original recipes 2-3 times a week, but then I started planning a distance wedding, went back to school to become a Nutritional Therapist, started teaching Pure Barre classes, and started a new 9-5 job. I did this all at the same time, which truly was one of the worst time-management decisions I think I’ve ever made. (But maybe I can talk more about that at another time because I could go on and on about everything that has happened in my life recently.)
South of Vanilla fell silent, because I simply was deciding between sleep and blogging, and I think we all know that sleep wins. I did, however, continuously post on Instagram because I love interacting with you all so much. (And to be 100% honest, I really adore insta too.)
Now that things have slowed down and I’m falling back into the new normal, I’m here to announce a change.
South of Vanilla will be changing in the coming months. Fear not, I will still be posting recipes; my first true foray into the blogging world was cooking and I always hope that to be my one true foothold. Recipes will not be posted as often as they once were, however, I will be posting new types of content.
I have been a member of the holistic health community for a long, long time. (Read more about me here.) In fact, if we’re being completely honest, one of the reasons I decided to step away from conventional and traditional medical practice was that I no longer felt honest prescribing medical advice to my patients that I didn’t believe in, and that I didn’t think worked.
I went back to school to become certified in holistic healing, and to gain a deeper understanding and a firm grasp behind the science of nutrition and how dietary changes can help and heal so many sick people.
So, South of Vanilla is changing. I will start to post recipes again, but I will also be posting more information about specific foods, alternative-health, wellness, nutritional properties of healing foods, and how to incorporate a healthy lifestyle into everyday life.
In accordance with the “new school year”, I am also really excited to announce another new direction for South of Vanilla. Since I am now a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP), I will be taking South of Vanilla offline and into the “real world” by accepting new clients for individual evaluations and consulting. You can learn more about this here and even now purchase therapy sessions at South of Vanilla. I can’t even believe that South of Vanilla has morphed into this, and I couldn’t have ever believed that two years ago when this blog started that it would take this amazing evolution.
Thanks for reading friends, and I can’t wait to share more, and maybe even meet you all in person soon! Happy “New Year”!
